About Us

We are a boutique mental health agency that caters to those who would not normally knock on the door of a behavioral health organization. We strive to take the stigma out of mental health so that more individuals seek the assistance they want and need. Our Staff’s workload is evaluated on an ongoing basis to assure that the needs of our clients are met.

Our Programs

Our Prevention programs promote a healthy environment for both individuals and communities.

Youth Services

Our day treatment program serves school aged children between Kindergarten through 12 grade with mental, social, behavioral, and emotional challenges. We provide daily tools and curriculum for them to gain the understanding that is needed to be productive in their everyday lives.

Adult Services

Means weekly interaction with a person in which the focus of treatment is on the person’s mental health or any emotional disturbance. QBHS acts as a partner in a person’s life that is able to help with structure, goals, and daily living.

Community Services

LABH provides community based services to consumers identified as having mental health disorder. Proposed BH counseling and therapy services include group and/or individual counseling based on needs determined from our completed mental health assessment.

Our Team

Christopher L. Henderson, MPA

Mr. Henderson graduated from the University of Akron where he obtained a Master’s in Public Administration and Urban Studies. For more than a span of 20 years, Mr. Henderson has devoted himself to empowering various communities. His mission is to help build up individuals and/or groups to bring them closer to their mental, emotional, and spiritual core to endure positive outcomes in their lives and sustain healthy relationships. Mr. Henderson is a strong advocate in uplifting the community and guiding individuals to discover their talents and becoming an asset in their environments. He is a proud member of the Masonic Order and of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.” Mr. Henderson’s personal quote is “I have my PH.D in Experience, a Master’s in Failure, and through those, that’s how I became successful.”

Derrick Kirklen, LPCC-S, LICDC

Derrick Kirklen, is an Ohio State Independently Licensed and National Board certified Professional Clinical Counselor with supervisor endorsement, and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with over 15+ years of experience in the Adult Behavioral Health and Addiction Treatment as a practitioner and as an administrator. A native of Gary, IN, he grew up in Lansing, MI since the age of 11, and came to Cleveland form the Detroit area and has lived there since 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Cleveland State University.

Dee Dee Pitts, LPC, M.Ed

Dee Dee graduated from The University of Akron in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy where she was trained in family dynamics. She has been employed at a local mental health agency since 2010 and she is a licensed mental health counselor. Dee Dee empowers couples and individuals to overcome personal obstacles to improve their relationships. She has been married for 33 years and she understands the complexities of relationships. She states, “Research show that unhealthy relationships can cause both emotional and physical stress, while healthy relationships can enhance and improve overall well-being.” She offers relationship counseling, individual counseling and family counseling for anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

Jennifer Walker-Rosario, BA

Ms. Walker-Rosario has been working in medical administration for a little over 18 years. She opened her own consulting company back in 2015 after several years of working in various roles with hospitals, physicians, and insurance/billing agencies. She obtained her BA in Psychology in 2017 focusing on adolescent counseling. Ms. Walker-Rosario spent the better part of six years working in an inner-city suboxone clinic that provided medical and behavioral health services. She absolutely loves what she does and what LABH brings to the community. She believes that bridging the gap between administration and client care is key to an all-encompassing successful practice.

Stacey Gooden

Stacey has worked in Office Management for over 20 years. She joined the Life Anew Behavioral Health team in 2022 and has brought her clerical knowledge as well as her extensive background in Medicaid Insurance to the Behavioral Health Field. She got her start in management because of her love for people and her community after studying at the University of Akron. She looks forward to aiding in the healing process of clients she helps serve.

Tristan Reed, PMHNP-BC

Tristan Reed is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She is passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to children and adults. Her nursing experiences outside of mental health include public health, medical surge, case management, and serving as adjunct nursing faculty for Stark State College and Bryant & Stratton College. Tristan holds an extensive educational background, including a dual bachelor's degree in nursing and political science from the University of Akron. She later went on to receive her Master of Business Administration from Ashford University in 2015 and a Master of Science in Health Administration from South University in 2017. Most recently, she returned to the University of Akron and completed her Master of Science in Nursing in 2020. In 2022, she obtained a certification from the Ohio State University in pediatric psychiatry. Currently, Tristan is pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Kent State University while working at Coleman Health Services. She brings her passion for mental health and public service to her role on the newly formed Akron Citizen's Police Oversight Sight Board. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Tristan is dedicated to her family and community. She enjoys spending time with loved ones and serving in ministry at her church.

Cerina N. Woodall MSW, LICSW-S

Cerina N. Woodall MSW, LICSW-S was born in Cleveland Ohio and raised in a military family. She had the opportunity to travel the world before her family settled back In Cleveland, Ohio when she was 9 y/o . Cerina attended and graduated in 2004 from Glenville High School, with honors and went on to attend The University of Akron and Cleveland State University . Cerina Complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology before pursuing a law degree at Thomas M. Cooley Law school . Cerina eventually returned to Cleveland State University to complete her master's degree in social work. Cerina has provided community-based services, including trauma-focused individual, couples adult and youth group and youth therapy, since 2011 . " I work hard to create a safe space for my clients to express their feelings , perspectives and experiences while providing useful and constructive feedback. We all go through changes and sometimes those changes are difficult to cope with. "

Mikhaela LaShawn

Ms. LaShawn brings a plethora of diverse experience to this role. She attended Baldwin-Wallace College for finance and is a native Clevelander. She held positions as a H.R. and Recruiter for United Health Care, she also worked in the finance dept for Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas. Currently she is an author, licensed Insurance Broker, and agency owner with over 15 years of experience in the SEL and behavioral health field. Her vast professional and performance experience has created a unique set of skills for the industry of Human Resources here at Life Anew. Ms. LaShawn’s life’s work and perspective has led her here to facilitate compassionate creative innovative leadership that serves our clients with dignity, deep passion integrity and love. Her personal Motto: If it doesn’t add value don’t say it, if it doesn’t give value don’t do it!
